Church marriage

Our parish supports catholics in every possible way as they enter into marriage and even afterwards, through the difficulties of married life. The Church’s aim is that new couples have strong foundations and the best possible conditions for a successful family life.

For this reason, preparations for marriage should begin well in advance. It would be best to register with your own parish a year before the wedding, although special permissions can be requested from the parishpriest for serious reasons. Everything begins with the first planning meeting, during which the upcoming wedding is planned with attention to the particulars needs of the couple. This is followed by a marriage preparation course, that ends with the signing of marriage documents and the preparation of the wedding liturgy.

It is best to celebrate a catholic wedding in a church, where God’s role as the protector and guarantor of marriage is more clearly evident. However, we can exeptionally officiate weddings in different parts of Northern Finland, in which case we will work together to find the best possible location for the celebration.

Please do not hesitate to contact us, and we will see how we can help.
