The introductory course is a course lasting approximately one accademic year, during which the basics of the Catholic faith are covered. The introductory course is intended both for those who just want to learn about catholicism and for those who want to join the catholic Church.
The course begins in September and ends in June, after which those who have completed the course can decide whether to join the catholic Church. If so, the actual “reception into the Church” takes place in connection with the visit of the Bishop of Helsinki, usually in the autumn following the course. The introductory course proceeds at the same pace as the Church’s liturgical year, experiencing which is essential for those wishing to become catholic. The path to catholicism is two-fold: the liturgical life of the parish and the introductory course.
This is because joining the catholic Church in “full communion” is primarily a spiritual process, which it is first good to discuss with the parish priest. During this process, our aim is to help people purify their decision from any possible hostility or misconception that might be associated with it, so that the final decision is made out of love for Christ.
The course lectures take place every other Saturday at 11:00 AM and last approximately one hour.
Registration takes place through the priests, who will then inform you when the next group will be formed.
